About
Opinion and first-hand perspectives from people who have worked inside frontier AI labs.
A small number of companies are building systems that may reshape the economy, science, security, and politics within years. Most of what matters about how that work is done happens out of public view: what the models can do before they are announced, how safety decisions actually get made, what is promised publicly versus practiced internally, and how labs respond under competitive pressure.
Outside the Singularity exists to give the public better information about what is happening inside AI labs. We publish opinion pieces and first-hand perspectives, written by individuals, that help people outside the labs understand the decisions being made on their behalf.
This is a collection of articles by former employees of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta Superintelligence Labs, xAI, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), and other frontier labs, writing from first-hand experience of how these organizations work.
Who funds us
We are funded entirely by current and former AI lab employees, contributing in their personal capacities. Funders do not act on behalf of their employers, and no lab has any role in, or advance knowledge of, what we publish.
We accept no other funding: no advertising, no sponsorships, no investors, and no money from companies, governments, foundations, or other institutions.
